NELLIE RUSTICK MEIER is a soprano whose voice has been praised as "exquisite" and "simply delicious". Critics have stated that “Rustick has an exceptional instrument. Her voice is something unusually special and wonderful.”
The 2022 - 2024 seasons has been filled with Wagner’s Ring Cycle, with Rustick singing Wellgunde in Das Rheingold, covering Sieglinde/ singing Gerhilde in Die Walküre, and singing Getrune/ covering Wellgunde in Götterdämerung (August 2024). In the Spring of 2024, Rustick created the role of Mercy Otis Warren in the New Musical Rebel Town: The Boston Tea Party Musical, written by John Segalla. Other 2024 performances include new concert works by composer David Anderegg as well as creating the role of Marie Wisnooski in his New Musical A Bigger Angel (recording only), and Copeland’s Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson (in recital).
The 2019 - 2020 season included first forays into Wagnerian repertoire with the Wagner Festival in Brattleboro, VT (Tundi Productions). Rustick was also was set to sing Erste Dame in The Magic Flute with The Windham Philharmonic; Covid restrictions hit right before dress rehearsals.
In the 2018 - 2019 season Ms. Rustick sang Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and Hermit Songs at the Bennington College Concert Series, and performed the role of Miss Todd in Menotti’s Old Maid and the Thief with City Chamber Opera. She also sang Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder on an extensive fall recital tour in New York State, and created the role of Eleanor Roosevelt in Eleanor, a New Musical based on Roosevelt’s amazing life.
Ms. Rustick has sung with Tundi Productions Wagner Festival, Connecticut Lyric Opera, City Chamber Opera, Capitol Opera Albany, Mosaic - Arts Opera, Hubbard Hall Opera Theater, and Berkshire Opera Festival. She has been the soprano soloist with Octavo Singers, Stockbridge Festival Chorus, Albany Community Chorale, Albany Chamber Singers, and Berkshire Lyric Chorus at Tanglewood. Onstage, she has been seen at The Ghent Playhouse, PS21, West Sand Lake Center for the Arts, and NYSTI. As a passionate recitalist, Ms. Rustick has given recitals throughout New York and New England.
Ms. Rustick is also an avid performer of new works, having premiered roles and pieces at The Strand Theater in Hudson Falls, Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge Music on Main Concert Series, Berkshire Community College, and University at Albany.
Other creative projects include working as a background actor for the first season of The Guilded Age (HBO ’21), portraying a swim coach in the film The Mental State (’18), singing the National Anthem for the USPS First-Day Ceremony of the Ellsworth Kelly Stamp and opening day of Saratoga Race Course, and working as a standardized patient for AMC teaching hospital.
